Curriculum integration and classroom management using social media
School: Diopong P. School My project is about teaching grade 1 learners how to read and write phonics using technology. Learners are performing poorly because they do not know how to pronounce sounds correctly. If phonics are not taught at an early ages this will affect their future performance. I used technology in my phonics teaching to enhance the learning experience and to make it more fun . Through technology in the classroom learners will engage more into the learning area and it will also encourage them to learn individually as well as work as with their peers in groups. Foundation phase learners must be taught phonics awareness to prepare them to be able to read and write. I used the innovative way of teaching for them to understand better, coupled with songs to make it more fun. Nowadays learners are familiar with technological device's e.g. smart phones. Parents need to be trained how to download phonics to help learners at home. I have used a projector to display phonics on the screen and show them how to write words and letters in the right direction. As every child learn differently, technology can help learners to learn more effectively. |

Exploring safer use of mobile technology in and out of the classroom to enhance learner achievements
The main aim of my project was to prevent the risks around the use of mobile technologies at school and beyond, while the mobile technologies are used to disrupt poor performance. Both parent and learners were educated on digital citizenship course, which equipped them with skills to stay safe on their mobile resources. Upon completion of the digital citizenship curriculum learners took an online assessment. At the end of each assessment, learners received printable certificates. Secondly, learners in collaboration with parents, the educator (myself) and their peers worked in groups to derive their own rules for using mobile technologies at school and at home, lastly, they created their own digital citizenship resources including videos, PowerPoint presentations, games, etc. on how to become a digital super heroes. Learners’ initiatives were shared with parents during parents meeting and other learners at the school and globally on online platforms as part of awareness.
