ICT4RED course framework

The ICT4RED TTT course follows a blended Face to Face and online approach and teacher trainers will be taken through all the facets of implementation, tablet skills, badging and support.  The 10 modules are divided into 2 five day sessions. Online support, ongoing online training webinars and assessment will assist trainers to successfully implement, train and support their colleagues.  Trainers will be able to start implementing the course into their schools directly after completion of the first 5-day session. A maximum of 12 participants per TTT session can be accommodated to cater for individual attention and preparation.  It consists of the following elements:
1.Face to Face Participation and TTT Course Session 1
  • Requirements.
    • Must be a recognised ICT Champion respected and acknowledged by his/her peers
    • Must have intermediate to advanced computer and Internet skills.
    • Must commit to every facet of training, both course attendance and implementation.
    • Must have access to and bring along own tablet, laptop with internet access.
  • Duration: 5 intensive training days during the school holidays (Starting dates, April, July, October, December and January- see schedule)
  • 5 Modules modelling and dealing with the 5 learner centred strategies:
    • Module 1: Jigsaw (Basic mobile technology use and back channelling)
    • Module 2: Storytelling (Marketing and advocacy)
    • Module 3: Role play (School ICT implementation issues and strategies)
    • Module 4: Learning stations with digital libraries
    • Module 5: Mind mapping with apps
    • Assessment tools and techniques
    • Badging related to the first 5 modules.
  • TTT: Modules 1 to 5 from a training perspective
  • Technical, tablet skills and online submissions.
  • Setting up and managing online spaces for your training
  • How to assess badging portfolios for SACE accreditation submission
  • Gamification strategies for use during training.
  • Adapting the course for your school environment and devices.
  • Issues and workshop management.
  • Cost: R 6 000 pp (excluding travel, accommodation and devices. Include training venue, refreshments, material and game incentives.)

2.Support and accreditation Modules 1-5
  • 5 Online Support Webinars
  • Online 1 to 1 assistance
  • Online assessment of facilitator portfolios and badging
  • Online training community of practice
  • Resource bank with templates and examples
  • Cost R2 500 pp

3.Face to Face Participation and TTT Course Session 2
  • Requirements. Must have:
    • Completed the participation and TTT course session 1
    • Submitted badging portfolio of evidence (for both participation and TTT modules 1-5)
    • Must have access to and bring along own tablet, laptop with internet access.
  • Duration 5 days (July, October and January)
  • Next 5 Modules:
    • Module 6: Flipped classrooms, assessment and lesson plans
    • Module 7: Gamification and Game Based Learning
    • Module 8: Field trips
    • Module 9: Gallery walks
    • Module 10: Reflection
  • Assessment tools and techniques
  • Badging related to the next 5 modules.
  • Modules 6 to 10 from a training perspective.
  • Technical skills
  • Badging and assessment of portfolios for SACE accreditation submission.
  • Gamification principals in course facilitation.
  • Adapting the course for your own school environment and device scenario.
  • Issues and workshop management
  • Cost: R 6 000 pp (excluding travel, accommodation and devices. Include training venue, material and game incentives.)

4.Support and accreditation Modules 6-10
  • Online Support Webinars
  • Online 1 to 1 assistance
  • Online trainer portfolio assessment and badging
  • Online community of practice
  • Resource bank with templates and examples
  • Cost R 2500
 
Accreditation
On completion and integration of participant part of the  course,  sessions 1 and 2- modules 1-10 and submitting and achieving the relevant badges associated with each module, participants will receive 45 SACE accreditation points.
ICT4RED TTT course is in the process of being SACE and SAQA accredited through the Digital Education Institute and will be awarded on completion and submission of a portfolio of evidence of implementing and training ICT4RED with other teachers within their school/organisational context.
