Most importantly, my high priority is to strengthen the school and communities around me in my home province of Limpopo.
Project Based Learning:
I conducted projects with grade 6 learners at Toronto Primary School and Mapudithomo, that focused more on innovative content creation and safer use of mobile technology in and out of the classroom .The projects expose learners to a range of applications and software including Inspireware Maths and Science Programme, Microsoft Maths Worksheet Generator, Khan Academy, ixl.com, Geogebra, Flashcards, Kodu , Minecraft, etc. In my daily teaching, I use technological tools such as Office Mix, Sway, OneNote and PowerPoint, YouTube videos, quizzes, images and many more to bring reality into learning. I allow learners to create their own resources using technology. The created contents and resources are based on learners’ own contexts which is genuinely relevant to them. The combination of all tools ensures real life and meaningful learning and is an addition to all, excitement. These initiatives encourage enjoyment of learning through modern technologies as part of promoting 21st century skills.
My strengths include amongst others an in-depth knowledge, skills and experience of teaching Mathematics, Science Languages and ICT as well as my desire to continuously learn and seek new ways of developing learners of the 21st century skills and attributes. Although I was not trained to teach with technology, through my own initiatives, eagerness, interests, self-directed learning, tenacity and will power to make a difference, I progressed to where I am now and accumulated the set of skills and attributes. Today I am a MIE Expert 2012-2018, an ISPA Champ Teacher, an NTA award winner, a trainer, a mentor to other educators and an extraordinary educator that has appetite for positive results and ground-breaking projects in the field of learning and teaching. I use technology in my classroom, transforming my interaction with learners and taking them to new heights with ease.
It is my wish and ambition to see South Africa and the global community using the skills and knowledge of teachers like myself and those who came before me through the same career ladder to contribute to education and learning.

My project is about how I have changed the way I teach!
‘Using blogs empowered by badging as digital portfolios in a 21st century classroom.”
School: The Rock Academy primary school, Fish Hoek, Western Cape.
My goal was to increase the motivation of my learners, and bring fun along with excellence into all our lessons. I thought of some of the 21st Century teaching approaches that are trending at the moment - the paperless classroom, gamification, digital writing, e-portfolios... I put them all into the mixing bowl and came up with an idea. I would get my Grade 6 class to do the term’s work in ICT lessons in a gamified way using blogs, which we would call our e-portfolios to display their work. My lessons would consist of a variety of different types of digital writing, and would be called Challenges. The reward for completing a Challenge well, and in the allotted time, would be a badge which would be displayed on the learner’s blog.
I love this way of teaching and my learners do too. To me it is making a start at embracing the future. The learners are able to share their work with a wider audience and feel proud about what they are creating. My project is improving all the time.

Cyril Nkosana Nkabinde is a Master of Science graduate from the University of Cape Town. He is currently the Head of Department (Natural Sciences) and Information Technology and Communication (ICT) committee member in the portfolio of External Relations and Training at Zonkizizwe Secondary (Ekhurhuleni South District, Gauteng Province). He developed interest in ICT and research skills at an early stage of his career. It is the efficiency in these critical skills that has made it possible to co-author in local and international scientific publications such as the South African Journal of Science and the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
His other line of interest lies in leadership and management processes. He believes that managers are key drivers of sustained institutional productivity and success. To this end, he has made use of ICT tools to train educators and the School Management Team (SMT) in his school on curriculum delivery management. His project has demonstrated that ICT can be integrated into the Curriculum Management Model (CMM) to develop managers and other stakeholders to monitor effectively the progress of educators and give developmental support where necessary. He intends to fine-tune this ICT-aligned model to meet future curriculum demands in the 21st century.
He is excited to have taken part in the 2018 ISPA competition and affirms that you are never the same at the end of such a challenging competition. He believes that the combination of consistent hardwork, passion and willingness to make a difference has driven him to these heights of success.
His project topic is:
THE USE OF INFORMATION COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY (ICT) IN CURRICULUM DELIVERY MANAGEMENT

Training/ Program: IQMS (Intergrated Quality Management System) Resolution 8 of 2003
Performance Measurement (Resolution 1 of 2003) Schools has to identify their strong and weak points. They also have to determine where were non development in previous years, and what nature of these non-development are. After such analogy schools will be able to plan strategies for future plans to develop as to monitor and manage Institutions properly for the coming years.
