![]() I’m a 43 year old professional teacher of more than 15 years. I taught from grade R to 12 in my teaching career. I taught primary school Maths, languages and Lifekills; Geography, History, English First Additional Language, Natural Sciences and Technology. I started ICT in the classroom since 2009 when Coza Cares foundation visited our circuit to train teachers and the same year I became a finalist for ISPA Super teacher and managed to be a runner up. I am a Microsoft Certified Educator since 2015 August, got recognition for being Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert from 2014-upto date. Microsoft Master Trainer from 2015 to date. I have trained more than 600 peers across the country at School Net Conferences, Eschools Network and Microsoft gatherings as well as the EdTech Teams seminars. I have trained more than 200 community members on computer literacy and mostly it was youth and women who managed to acquire their qualifications with accredited Institutions. I love travelling and motivational talks, I also work with my hands to knit hats and scarfs and do bead work. I am business minded person who is a go-getter. I Developed content for foundation phase using apps and I was awarded the ISPA Super Teacher Champ 2016. I am continuing to build content especially with the subjects I am teaching and upload it to YouTube, Mix, Sway, Kahoot and many more apps. I am doing game-based learning with my learners to solve problems through Minecraft and Scratch and now have introduced Microbit to teach them to program their own work. During the process of the competition this year it has been a fun filled experience with my learners since whatever we do practicalize it. Introducing the Cybersecurity course to them through lifejourney website is one of their inspiration but the challenge is it has with age 13 which is a disadvantage to others. This has been one exciting project I have ever worked on. Seeing my learners gaining such a lot of confidence and just want to be in the computer room for every period just inspired me, Introducing them to Minecraft and Scratch as well was one of the most game based learning they loved. Making them access learning materials online also improved their reading skills and parents are so committed to helping their children to an extent that they call me after hours to check how certain things are done online. The Kahoot games is also a breakthrough because learners are playing it with their siblings at home. So learning no longer happens within the four walls of the classroom but extend to the outside world where everyone can take charge of learning. So no one will ever say I didn’t get it unless they lack resource but it can be done at school. The ISPA Competition has taught me one thing "discipline" I told myself I am not entering this year but knowing I will be denying my learners some adventure in life. I am just being capacitated so as my learners and the community I am working for. My school was awarded special Ministerial award for introducing e-learning at a quintile 2 rural school. I have been with ISPA for more than 7 years most of the time as a finalist and twice as a winner. I am now featured here http://www.inspiringfifty.com/inspiring-fiftysouth-africa-2017/ as one of the most influential women in Tech across South Africa. I was also featured here http://dailyedventures.com/index.php/2015/10/01/mokhudu-machaba/ in 2015 for working with the learners with Marula within our school yard.
