Amandla Vinjwa is an educator at Sivile Primary school. He teach Math Grade 4 & 5, Social Sciences Grade 6 and Technology Grade 7. He is passionate ICT (Information Technology and Communication) activist and he used it as a teaching and learning resource to enable learners to develop their full potential in and beyond the classroom, to develop learners 21st Century skills, thus Critical thinking, Communication, Collaboration and Creativity, problem solving, decision making and self – regulation on their learning process.

Due to his interest in Technology he developed his skills in various ways using both free and paid, online as well as offline learning infrastructure or platforms.

He joined the Western Cape Education Department E-Learning Team as one of the E-Learning trainers, training teachers effective ways of using Technology in their teaching practices and classroom environments (contexts) and on that process he grew his love for technology, and became more involved at Microsoft free Online and offline courses. As a result he was nominated as a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert and qualified as a Certified Microsoft trainer. He facilitated several ICT training workshops, working in partnership with SchoolNetSA and Microsoft to inspire and motivate educators to integrate ICT into the classroom. He also actively participated in Tablet classroom integration projects and took part in  100 schools project.

He participated in local and Global Microsoft events earlier this year when he was selected to attend Microsoft Exchange Education (E2) in Toronto, Canada, as well as a local event, which was held in Johannesburg.

For the ISPA Superteacher Comeptition, Amandla and his learners selected to do a Technology Collaboration in Water Awareness Campaign. They interrogated and explored ICT tools that could work well to get their message across.  Their campaign was managed using freely available and accessible ICT tools. They used Google Groups, Google Blogs, Google forms, Google cloud as well as Facebook Groups to collaborate and share resources.

Amandla reflects that participation in the Ispa Super-teacher competition was not a walk in the park, but through teamwork and the ongoing support and feedback by the
ISPA Super Teacher Team, he managed to keep going and persevere to the final stages of the project.
